William J. Benkert III, 56, of Middletown, died Saturday July 1, 2006, at his residence. He was born in Akron, on August 23, 1949 to parents William J. and Martha (Goubeaux) Benkert Jr. He spent most of his childhood in Greenville, Ohio, prior to joining the military.
Bill served his country in the United States Air Force from November 1968 to September 1972, serving a year in Vietnam. He enjoyed sports, especially the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Browns. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Miami Valley Post 3809. Bill worked as a reputable sales manager in the automobile industry. He finished his career at Cronin Motor, Inc. in Middletown.
Bill is survived by three sons, Ryan M. Benkert of Dayton, Jason E. Benkert of Dayton, and Kevin C. Benkert of Sarasota, FL; his former wife, Cathy M. Keehan of Sarasota, FL; a brother, Dr. Robert E. Benkert of Denver, CO; his father, William J. Benkert Jr. of Greenville; Jean Hayes of Middletown, with whom he shared his life; and Queenie, a special companion.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
