William J. Neyer, 86, of Monroe, died Thursday, August 21, 2008, at Dayton V.A. Hospital. He was born in Cincinnati, on October 1, 1921 to parents Anthony W. and Emma Jane (Hodgeman) Neyer.
William served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Monroe, the Knights of Columbus in Wahiawa, Hawaii, and was past master of Schoefield Barracks Lodge F. & A.M. in Wahiawa.
Mr. Neyer is survived by his wife, Barbara L. (Rauch) Neyer; six children, William J. (Barbara) Neyer Jr., John A. Neyer, Daniel F. (Han) Neyer, Michael E. Neyer, David E. Neyer, and Lynn A. (Gary) Johnson; two sisters, Lucille Modis and Ruth Wirth; twelve grandchildren; and nineteen great grandchildren.
William was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary C. (Schott) Neyer in 1986; his parents; sisters, Marian Neyer, Jeanette Neyer, and Rita Cook; and brothers, Richard Neyer James Neyer, and Roy Neyer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 330 Lebanon Street, Monroe with Father Terry Meehan as celebrant. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 am at church. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cincinnati.
