He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty plus years, Claudette Gagnon Picard, his parents, Gilbert and Mary Picard and a grandchild, Michael Jon Picard. After graduating from the University of Maine with a degree in Physics, he began his career in papermaking with the Frazier Paper Company in Madawaska, Maine. In addition to working in the paper industry, he was also a part-time professor at the University of Maine at Fort Kent, Maine. After spending five years in St. Marys, Pennsylvania, he and his family moved to Middletown, Ohio and eventually he became the last President of the Sorg Paper Company. Once he retired from papermaking, he began his own paper converting company, Picard Paper Processing, Inc. where he worked until retiring to return to Maine. He greatly enjoyed woodworking, making a significant amount of furniture for his home and for family and friends. Nothing gave him more joy than making furniture, clocks, and other wooden items for friends and family. In order to satisfy his desire to continue his woodworking, he maintained two large woodworking shops in Florida and Maine so that he could continue make items for friends in both states. Services are yet to be determined, with one to occur in his Florida hometown and another this summer in his birthplace with internment to be in the Fort Kent, Maine Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Ark Animal Shelter 60 Barber Lane Cherryfield, Maine 04622. Local arrangements by Wilson Schramm Spaulding Funeral Home, Middletown, Ohio 45044
