William Earl Mullins, Jr., 37, of Trenton, Ohio, died Sunday, August 1, 2004, at his residence. He was born in Middletown, on December 12, 1966 to parents William Earl and Corinea (Zbacnik) Mullins, Sr..
Willie graduated from Madison High School / D. Russell Lee Vocational School in 1985. He worked for Butler County Department of Environmental Services - LeSourdsville Wastewater Treatment Plant. He was an avid amateur radio operator, earning his license in 1991. His call sign was N8WCE. He was a member of Middletown Dial Radio Club and the American Radio Relay League. Willie´s hobbies included building attennas and receivers for his radios, photography, military history - especially WW II aircraft and battles, fishing for flathead catfish and Tom & Jerry cartoons.
Willie is survived by his wife, Melodee (Myers) Mullins; a step daughter, Courtnee (Brady) Monroe; step granddaughter, Kaylah Burns-Monroe; his mother, Corinea Williams; his father Earl (Alice) Mullins, Sr.; sister, Pam (Ralph) Schirmer; brother, Anthony (Candy) Mullins; good friends, Dave Click and Justin Browning; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, friends, and co-workers.
He was preceded in death by his step father, Floyd Williams.
Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at 07:00 PM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home with Pastor Hobert White officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 4, 2004 from 5-7 PM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown, OH Interment will be at Woodside Crematory.
In support of Willie’s love of amateur radio and military history, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, a contribution be made in his honor to the Veteran’s Voice of America; a foundation created to restore the VOA station into a memorial park and museum dedicated to the VOA’s unique contribution to radio and military history. Contributions may be made in his honor to: West Chester Park Fund, VOA Museum, 5641 Union Center, West Chester, OH 45069 (www.WCLFoundation.com). Contributions may also be made in his honor to support his local amateur radio club.
