Willis Daniel LeForce, better known as Bud, passed peacefully at his home on Sunday, December 14, 2008, with his family at his side. He was born in Corbin, Kentucky on April 11, 1922, the last of eleven children, to Elijah and Mary Virginia (Payne) LeForce.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He worked several places during his life including Krispy Kreme Donuts, Kentucky State Highway Patrol, mortician, owner of The Spot Restaurant of Middletown and insurance sales. He retired from Armco Steel in 1985 as a security guard. He served in the Army during World War II with the 101st Airborne Division as a paratrooper, was a member of the American Legion, and received his 50 year Masonic pin from the Jefferson Lodge #90 in 2008. He was a leader of his son's Boy Scout troop and a member of the University Baptist Church. He sang and played guitar with his family, which were all musically talented. His music, laughter and love of life touched all who knew him.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers and their spouses, Vernon 'Fotch' (Otie) LeForce of Corbin, Kentucky, William (Norma) LeForce of Oregonia, Richard (Ruby) LeForce, Alvis (Iona) LeForce, Edgar B. (Aleda 'Peanut') LeForce and Larry (Elaine) LeForce all of Middletown; four sisters and their spouses, Bertha (Thomas) Howell, Dorothy LeForce and Otie (Jim) Petry all of Corbin, Cora Valentine (Dave) Mefford of Texas; and two brothers-in-law, Elmo Hawkins of Virginia Beach, Virginia and James Hawkins of Middletown.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Demarias E. (Hawkins) LeForce, better known as Boots; son, Daniel E. LeForce of Middletown; daughter, Debra (Clifford 'Jeep') Green of Lebanon; granddaughter, Kelli (Todd) Rowe of Trenton; great grandson, Jacob A. Rowe and great granddaughter, Shelby K. Rowe, both of Trenton; two sisters-in-law, Betty (Hawkins) (John) Wallace of Franklin and Marjorie (Kuhn) Hawkins of Virginia Beach, Virginia; numerous nieces and nephews; and his pets, Spanky, Sadie, Fritzy, Otis, Gracie Mae & Lilly. He was a very loving and caring family man and will be greatly missed by all.
The family gives special thanks to the staff of Hospice of Middletown, the staff of the Residence of Kensington Place (south wing), Dr. Martin Walsh and Dr. Maurice Swanson.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday, December 18, 2008 at 11:00 am at WILSON-SCHRAMM-SPAULDING FUNERAL HOME, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at the funeral home with Masonic Service at 7:30 pm. Entombment will be at Woodside Mausoleum. After the graveside services, the family will receive guests at the Woodside Community Room.
