Wilma Mae Holman, 84, of Middletown, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Atrium Medical Center. She was born in Middletown on July 14, 1932 to parents Lester and Roberta Tolson.
Wilma graduated from Middletown High School in 1950 and after graduation worked in the office of the Raymond Bag Company. She was the wife of Jay Holman with whom she celebrated 62 years of marriage. Wilma was a member of the First Baptist Church and a long standing member of Forest Hills Country Club. She was an avid golfer and for years helped plant flowers and landscape the club. Wilma was a wonderful cook and devoted wife and mother. She took music lessons for many years and loved to sing. Wilma began volunteering for the Red Cross in 1971 at Middletown Regional Hospital, accumulating 9, 565 hours of service. She was named Chairman of the Hospital Adult Volunteers organization in 1976 at the 77th Annual luncheon meeting of the chapter. She was named the recipient of the Bill Hart Memorial Award for devoted volunteer service. In later years she looked forward to Wednesday afternoons at the hospital to meet her co-workers who became her close friends.
Wilma is survived by her husband, Jay Holman; sons, Stephen & David Holman, both of Middletown; brother, Terry Tolson of Tampa, Florida; sister, Jackie Duane of Dallas, Texas; and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Wanda Reck.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Rev. Dr. Wayne Paulsen officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 - 2:00 pm. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family at Woodside Cemetery.
