Wm. Ken Monroe, 95, of Middletown, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties. He was born in Lousianna, Missouri on June 13, 1915 to parents William A. and Elsa (Gittinger) Monroe.
Ken was the works chemist for Armco Steel for 37 years, retiring in 1978. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and played in the Kettering Civic Band.
Mr. Monroe is survived by his wife of 70 years this September, Virginia (Carroll) Monroe; daughter, Kay (Darrell) Wilson; son, Craig (Debbie) Monroe; two grandchildren, Kristian (Jennifer) Wilson and Kerrick (Carole) Wilson; six great grandchildren, Knox, Jonah, Kerriston, Luke, Joel & Lydia Wilson; niece, Diana Stetson; nephew, Dana Stetson; sister-in-law, Dorothy Eaton; and brother-in-law, John (Joan) Carroll.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dorothy Stetson.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, July 9, 2010 at 11:00 am at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Reverend Paul Mills and Reverend Dean Penrod officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
